Theater History

$25 per student, per month for registration.

Tuesdays, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ages 12-18

Class begins Tuesday, January 3rd and ends May 16th.

Class will be held in Sumner at the ACT1 Theatre warehouse: 13708 24 St E B 101, Sumner, WA 98390.

This class will cover the history of theater through project study and presentation. From theater’s inception to contemporary times this class will be jammed packed with all the knowledge of creative storytelling your soul can handle. This class will be taught by Stephanie Carlson – art & drama teacher and theater junkie with over 30 years of art & theater experience with a BA from Seattle Pacific University in Sociology, Psychology and Art.

Spanish for all ages!

Please join us for Spanish for all ages. The course incorporates wonderful learning techniques that involve cultural learning through art as well as language skills. The class is great for any youth interested in participating in the spring bi-lingual theatrical production.

Art Therapy

$40 per student, per month for registration.

Mondays, 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Ages: 12 to 18

Class will be held in Sumner at the ACT1 Theatre warehouse: 13708 24 St E B 101, Sumner, WA 98390.

Art can help process trauma, depression, and healing. It can also help youth develop their voice, and articulate discernment through art mediums rather than vocal/often performance oriented art avenues. This class will help every youth discover artistic methods for processing the emotions that life brings, as well as explore their creativity with texture, color, theme and perspective. Instructor Mataja Davidson holds a BFA in Psychology with art studies from Pacific Lutheran University.

Youth Improv

Free

Sundays, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ages 12-19

Class begins Sunday, January 8th and ends May 14th.

Class will be held in Sumner at the ACT1 Theatre warehouse: 13708 24 St E B 101, Sumner, WA 98390.

Join ACT 1 Theatre’s youth artistic director, Petra Karr, to develop your improvisational theatre skills, gain confidence, build self-esteem, collaborate creatively and have fun. This ongoing class meets once a week and performs about once a month for the public.

Music Lessons

Voice Lessons
Brass Lessons

Tuesdays beginning January 3rd. Time and fees will be arranged with the instructor

Class will be held in Sumner at the ACT1 Theatre warehouse: 13708 24 St E B 101, Sumner, WA 98390.

Join Molly Barnes to have a voice lesson or brass lesson. Molly graduated from Pacific Lutheran University, where she majored in vocal performance and music education/outreach. She works as music director with many Pierce County choirs, orchestras and theatre companies. You can choose to take a one-half hour lesson at or an hour lesson

Violin Lessons

Thursdays beginning January 5th. Time and fees will be arranged with the instructor

Class will be held in Sumner at the ACT1 Theatre warehouse: 13708 24 St E B 101, Sumner, WA 98390.

We invite youth and adult to perfect or begin the study of violin, with accomplished violinist August Giles. Giles is also a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University where he majored in conducting and performance.

Music Theory

August Giles is offering a music theory class that will be especially beneficial for all those considering music in college. It is the foundation which will put you ahead for scholarships and chair position as it contributes to your overall ability with your instrument of choice.
